A good idea, but...

To write a novel about Berlin where the wall still stands is a very good idea. You could argue that there are the different levels, or stories, in "Plan D" - a political story, a crime story, and a psychological story. These stories are of course intervowen in each other. In my view the novel would have benefitted from putting more weight on the first and the second stories, and less on the third. Having said that, the idea in itself is so good that the novel is worth a read for those of us who are interested in alternate history.

A good contrafaction novel.

It's a really good police novel. The idea of letting GDR still exists in 2011 is good. The description of life in GDR is like my own experience from the 1980s. But the clue could be better. It was too easy to forsee and to reject. Also I missed a short description of how thing were in the other east European countries.
