About the Author
Pablo Rey was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He arrived in Madrid in 1992, when Spain was in the midst of another bad recession. In 1996 he moved to Barcelona and in 2000 he rented his mortgaged apartment and moved into a 4wd van with Anna Callau, his partner in adventures. The goal: to drive around the world through Southern Europe, the Middle East, Africa from north to south, America from south to north, and back to Barcelona via Vladivostok to Finisterre. He has written articles for Overland Journal and Lonely Planet Magazine and has published three books in Spanish about his overland trips. Pablo has won more than 20 awards as a creative advertising writer, is a former illegal immigrant, an antique bottle hunter in ghost towns and one of many Argentinians from Barcelona, or Spaniards from Buenos Aires, with a leg in many continents. Pablo and Anna still live on the road.

An inspiration

I love the way Pablo describes how he feels about places, people and events (like fear for example or how freedom = cow shit). Great read. I wish there was more. I must say I am thrilled to have had the priviledge of meeting them (a couple of times). I will definitely buy his other books soon as they're translated in English.

Be inspired and get out from behind your desk!

I love the spirit and fortitude required to see the world through the windshield of a van. No one has more experience with this view than Pablo & Anna, of Viajeros4x4x4, as they've seen the world from behind the wheel of the "Cockroach," a Mitsubishi L300 4×4 Delica van, for over 13yrs now. I've now crossed paths with Pablo & Anna 4 times in my travels, and each time I've left the encounter even more inspired from their spirit and stories of adventure. Our paths crossed recently at the WA Overland Rally and I was able to finally grab a copy of their new book, "Around the World in 10 Years," in English. Their previous books in Spanish are probably great; I'm just REALLY bad at foreign languages. "Around the World" paints vivid pictures of far away places and dives deep into the human spirit, inspiring you to experience the "human circus" for yourself.

It wasn't easy to read, but some parts were interesting

If you are interested in Arab world this book might interest you. It wasn't an easy read for me as much as I wanted it to be, I enjoyed only some parts of it and found rest very hard to read & understand. Sometimes there seemed to be no concept - a bit from this and a bit of that, no flow. Very unfortunately I have to say this book was just ok at best... Maybe it's being translated from Spanish to English, who knows.
And yes - it seems to talk only about first year or so of the travel, which seem to go in to circles of same old, same old just in different country.
