An approachable, useful start to learning common Android tasks, but may leave some wanting more.

This book is easy to follow and breaks things down into many small, easily digestible chapters. This is helpful for those first starting out, since they won't get overwhelmed, and numerous chapters makes you feel like you're making progress rather than getting lost in the trenches.

For the most part I like the approach to learning - most chapters are sort of a "how to" for common android tasks. Some of these involve very small custom projects, or modifying the starter templates. You feel like you learn how to do things quickly and don't get lost following tons of steps for huge sample projects.

However, this approach also has one big downside - the book doesn't have much content on building larger, more real world applications - it feels very much like a collection of small tutorials. It would have been nice to have a few chapters at the end that provide an overview of a larger project, even if it doesn't go through every step. This would be really helpful for learning Android project structures, design patterns, and seeing how all of the various components fit together in a cohesive whole.
I would have also liked to see more on HTTP communication and consuming web services or aggregating data, it seems there is very little content on that, even though its an extremely common task in real world projects.

Complete, albeit a little cumbersome.

Details everything that I have come to expect from Haynes manuals. The one gripe that I have is that it covers so many different model years and both 250cc and 400cc-making it slightly confusing whenever trying to read in a linear fashion. I almost feel like I have to highlight the applicable parts.

Surprising, Delicious, Fun - A sweet couple take a bold sexy leap. I want to see more.

This was a very enjoyable and sexy read. It kept me captivated and pulled me in more than I expected. I thought I was just going to read a bit before going to bed, but instead I couldn't stop until I was done (fortunately it was short). Two things I will mention however: One, to the author: While I really like your writing and style, have another proofreader look at it. You have a few obvious typos (extra words that you forgot to delete, some misspellings - an autos "brake" is not spelled "break", etc). But readers, that's just for the author to know about so she can fix it and make an already wonderful story even easier to read - the mistakes are very infrequent and I still heartily recommend this story. She's a truly talented writer and I look forward to reading more of her stories. (One last thing, add a little more to the end. We think we know where it's going, but it would be so much more satisfying to read a few details on how they will go on, even if more about them comes in another book. I hate to call it a cliffhanger, but some might.

Good until the last chapter

I really wanted this to be a 5-star review but the book ended up disappointing me at the very end, which really lost it a star rating. It starts out very well, has some good character development, and even some fun and erotic scenes. But the last chapter just made me feel like it was a "hot mess" with the mixed message that our male lead LIKES what is happening and HATES what is happening. A different ending would have improved it a great deal.

Hot story,the lead up into what started their adventure,a great parking garage setting,the party setting and getting there was a bonus scene and had great backstory with the watchers the party romp was interesting but ended way to soon. Would have liked more to come.

Absolutly Brilliant.

Ted Dekker has a big three when it comes to his books; a host of good to great books, and handful of bad ones, but only three books which should always be remembered. Those big three are Thr3e (what a surprise), Black/Red/White (The Circle Trilogy 1-3) and this novel right here, Showdown. In anticipation for Dekkers next Novel, Sinner: The Books of History Chronicles, I decided to re-read this book so that I can familiarize myself with its main characters and themes so that I may better understand Sinner. The allegory of Dekkers earlier years shines through with this brilliant novel.

Johnny lives in a small Colorado town called Paradise, nestled in a little valley in the Rocky Mountains. Life is dull and mundane for the most part until a mysterious stranger walks into town garbed in black and bringing a message of hope and grace. His name is Black, Marsuvees Black, and he is no ordinary travailing preacher. Johnny knows that he's dangerous, but can't convince anyone in town. Meanwhile in a monastery far above the town thirty children are being raised in isolation as part of a project funded by Harvard called "Project Showdown" which is designed to raise children outside the influences of society in order to raise "noble savages" who may one day change the world for love. Unfortunately one of the students has decided to disobey the rules of the monastery by going into the forbidden dungeons.

Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but trust me, it's great. The story takes one huge twist after another until reality itself is called into question, and everything you know about love and hope will change. If I were to be picky I guess I could call into question some of Dekkers philosophical views about love and free will and liberty, but the very fact that I can nit pick at these ideas is what makes this book so enthralling. This is a must read book for any Dekker fan, and for all those who simply wish to have a good read.
PS; it might be best to read the Circle Trilogy first as it will defiantly make the book more enjoyable, and easier to understand.
