Carter's perspective of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not objective, and his experiences and observations are very much presented just the same way our media presents this conflict - one sided, and partial to the Israelis. He briefly discusses at the end of the book a few concerns regarding the way the Palestinians are being treated by the Israelis, but it is minimal information compared to the thousands of atrocities the Israelis have committed against the Palestinians since 1948. This is not the book to read if you are looking for an objective view.

Seems like a good book as far as the information and presentation, but we will likely return it as it is difficult to read: the pages are very thin, causing a little "bleed through" from the print on the other side. Would be very easy to tear with normal use. Also, the paper is glossy, causing an annoying glare that makes reading a strain. Have to continually change the angle of the page in relation to your light source in order to see the print easily. Anyone prone to migraine would have a very difficult time with this book. This book is not cheap, but it is made of very cheaply.

Also, there is an on-line program for students connected with this book. The book states that there is an access card to the website in the front of the book. This is a new book, and there is no access card with it.

Hopefully we can find a more easily usable version of this book.

It seemed as though the siblings had fulfilled their Ohmsford heritage and vanquished the foe–the operative word being seemed. Now the story continues in graphic-novel form. The characters and action are true to the Shannara legacy. Here Jair is called to destroy the last fragment of the Ildatch. Using magic, he is able to call forth and become Weapons Master Garet Jax, although this power puts his own soul in jeopardy. This exciting story sets the stage for a sequel. The black-and-white art is expressive and uses creepy shadow to convey the black arts at work. Although the art is classic comic book style and it is printed in standard left-to-right form, the novel should have great appeal to those who like fantasy-adventure manga because of its tone and subject matter. All things considered, Dark Wraith is a pretty good graphic novel

I was a little wary to say the least when I first heard about this grand experiment as Terry has called it. I am not what you would call a real fan of the format in general, and have yet to just *get into* the whole idea of reading a Comic Book (for lack of a better description). However, I tempered all of this with the fact that Terry has been one of the more consistently GOOD Fantasy Authors of the last 30 years and I decided to gamble on buying a copy.

For me, I believe the gamble paid off. While I won't be putting Dark Wraith up there with the likes of pretty much ANY of Terry's large (and growing) collection of great novels, I WILL admit that the story and even the art-work was enough to keep me interested and above-all, entertained from beginning to end.

Let me say that I am a gigantic fan of the Wishsong novel and the subsequent short story featuring Jair in the Legends II Fantasy collection and felt that Dark Wraith would be a nice continuation of events within that scope. I STILL feel that the character of Garet Jax is easily one of Brooks' best creations, and I think the whole idea behind using magic through song is one that potentially has limitless possibilities within the realm of a Shannara-themed story...add that together and I already felt like I was familiar with this story even before I began page 1.

I have to say that getting re-acquainted with Slanter all over again was a sincere pleasure...after finishing the story, I have to say that I really wish it had been longer. For those who may purchase this book thinking that the story is as epic as the typical Shannara tale will be sorely disappointed. This particular tale can be read in one fairly short sitting--unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the story, I just felt that the book barely got moving when almost as suddenly it ended...it's THAT short.

Take that all into account along with the fact that this IS a Graphic Novel and NOT a typical story and I believe you may enjoy this shortened visit into the land of Shannara quite a bit...but for those who are strongly against Graphic-type novels, you may want to think twice before picking this one up. I guess it's just a matter of taste...and I actually enjoyed this one, but wish it had been longer.

This is the most disappointing thing I have ever purchased for my kindle. I am 70 years old and cannot see all that well. To read this book on a kindle screen is absolutely impossible. I feel that I will miss a very good story because of the size of the print.

Chris Segrin (Ph.D., University of Wisconsin) is Professor of Communication and Communication Department head at The University of Arizona. He specializes in interpersonal relationships and mental health. About the Author

Douglas K. Taylor has worked with a variety of avian species in varied settings since 1995. From 1995–2000, he worked in private practice, routinely managing avian medicine and surgery cases. From 2000–2002, he worked in the field of wildlife toxicology and used chickens to study polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and mercury toxicity. From 2002–2006, he was in training as a resident at the University of Michigan where pigeons, passerines, and chickens were in use. He is currently a faculty veterinarian at Emory University, where a substantial number of passerine species and, occasionally, chickens are housed. He became a diplomate in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine in 2006.

Vanessa K. Lee has worked with avian species in both a research and clinical environment since 1999. From 1999–2000, she worked as a veterinary technical assistant at the University of Georgia Small Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital. From 2000–2001, she was an aviary farm manager for over 400 psittacine birds. From 2001–2004, she was a student research assistant working with pigeons and psittacines, and she worked as a wildlife treatment crew volunteer and supervisor. From 2005–2007, she was an associate veterinarian in private practice with a heavy avian caseload. She has held a faculty position at Emory University, during most of which she had clinical responsibilities for multiple passerine species. She became a diplomate in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine in 2010.

Karen R. Strait has worked with avian species in a variety of settings since 2003. From 2003–2005, she was a wildlife treatment crew volunteer and also completed a six-week training at the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study, participating in field studies and diagnostic necropsies of various avian species. She has held a faculty position at Emory University, during which she provided clinical support for multiple passerine species and poultry. She became a diplomate in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine in 2009.

I.S.P. Nation is Professor in Applied Linguistics at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. In addition to books, his extensive list of publications on teaching and learning vocabulary, language teaching methodology, and curriculum design, includes journal articles, book chapters and book reviews. He has taught in Indonesia, Thailand, the United States, Finland and Japan.

This book is a super helpful and a great aid in planning curriculum for a course or courses. I would definitely recommend it if this is your first time designing a course or you have not had very many opportunities to design with guidance.
